When Your Home No Longer Fits Your Life

This Windang project was for a hardworking local couple with one daughter who had spent years building their careers and saving to improve the home they loved.

Their older beachside home had great memories, but it no longer worked for the way they lived. Like many homes built decades ago, it was divided into smaller rooms, making the house feel closed in and disconnected.

They didn’t want to move. They wanted to transform what they already had.

Making Every Dollar Count

Like most families, they had a budget they needed to work within. One of the biggest conversations throughout the project wasn’t about adding “more.” It was about making smart decisions so every dollar delivered the greatest value.

That’s exactly how we like to work.

Reimagining an Older Home

This wasn’t simply an extension. The home was transformed from the inside out. We retained only the original front bedrooms while almost every other part of the house was rebuilt or renovated.

The project included opening the existing living areas into a larger, connected space, adding a new bedroom, laundry and ensuite, a completely new kitchen, new windows throughout, new outdoor decking, a fully renovated bathroom, and modern finishes that made the home feel brand new.

Every Custom Home Should Reflect the People Living In It

The owner wanted a window seat at the front of the home. Not because it was fashionable, but because she wanted a place where the family dog could sit and watch the world go by.

We built it exactly as she imagined. Today, that’s exactly how it’s used.

Those are often the details people remember most.

Turning a Challenge into a Feature

During construction, we discovered a sewer line that affected part of the new bedroom. Rather than accepting an awkward shape, we worked with the owners to redesign the area.

The solution became a feature instead of a compromise, incorporating a window and landscaped garden space that brought natural light into the room and created something unique.

A Home That Feels Like New

Today, this older Windang home feels completely transformed.

The family has the open living spaces they wanted, the additional accommodation they needed, and a home that reflects the way they live today rather than the way homes were designed decades ago.

It’s not simply building extra rooms. It’s helping you create a home that works better for your family, your lifestyle and your future.
